Top Ten Movies To Watch Out For!
Trying to scurry out of bed, I gave myself five more minutes to appreciate the cold morning bliss. What should I write about this time? Flying squirrels? Nah. The weather? Too lame. Myself? No one would bother reading that dude!
Then it hit me! Gee, after seeing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince a week ago and with G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra right around the corner, what comes next? Should I make my very own Top Ten list? Now that makes sense!
Browsing for info around the internet wasn’t very hard and I have been actually pondering about writing this article for a while now. Thanks to the constant stream of ”teaser trailers” people have been linking like crazy this past few weeks, this could never have been any easier. Now, what to include in the list?
Hmm.. First, I didn’t include remakes since I figured that it’d suck anyway. Rumors of upcoming movies like Robocop and Robin Hood are interesting of course, but nothing can replace the classics we’ve grown to adore. Second, the list is by no means counting down from what I think is the worst to the best to come. The numbering just indicates the order in which the film will be shown, based on their tentative screening dates. And lastly, I could’ve made it a Top Twenty list but I’m just too lazy. With all that nonsense out of the way, let’s rock!
UPDATE:
Some trailers were disabled for embedding and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Just follow the link just the same because these are the best clips on YouTube.
1. Astroboy
Director: David Bowers
Release Date: Oct. 23, 2009

Comments: Who hasn’t heard of Astroboy? With my wishlist of Japanese Anime adaptations, this movie has always been on the top of my list next to Gundam Wing. With a few months to go, I couldn’t wait to see how this movie turns out. Let’s just hope Japan’s Flagship Anime Icon doesn’t burn like Gokou in Dragonball: Evolution.
2. 2012
Directed by:Roland Emmerich
Release Date: Nov. 13, 2009

Comments: No other end-of-the-world film had this much hype since the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still. Since the trailer of huge floods appeared a few months ago, moviegoers started clamoring for this movie. Human drama and survival stories always spells blockbuster in my books. (and the producers too!)
3. The Book of Eli
Director: Albert Hughes
Release Date: January 15, 2010

Comments: It’d be cool to see Denzel Washington take on a role of a Post-Apocalytic hero bent on protecting humankinds last hope of survival. Oh and yeah, Mila Kunis is hot!
4. Alice in Wonderland
Director: Tim Burton
Release Date: March 5, 2010

Comments: You’ve seen the promotional posters, and you’ve seen the teaser trailer. Who can play the role of a drug-induced madhatter better than Johnny Depp? You’re right. No one. And with the quirky style you can expect from Director Tim Burton, you can expect that this’ll be one heck of a rollercoaster ride!
5.The Expendables
Director: Sylvester Stallone
Release Date: April 23, 2010

Comments: Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Brittany Murphy, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. WTF?! Are you crazy! That’s so effing awesome! Throw in a couple of energy bars and they can take on the Hulk for sure!
6. Iron Man 2
Director: Jon Favreau
Release Date:May 7, 2010

Comments: Tony Stark, with his buddy Jim Rhodes is back the second time around. With Whiplash and the Black Widow wreaking havoc on the streets, get ready for some more butt-kicking, repulsor-blasting, and blinding uni-beams all over the big screen. Will we see any other Avenger member in this movie? Who knows!
7.Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Release Date: May 28, 2010

Comments: Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this upcoming movie as the sword-buckling Prince Dastan from the smash-hit video game of the same name. The film’s showing date has been moved to give more time to post-production process for the special effects. It’s nice that they’re not rushing this movie and making sure that it’ll be up to par with movies like the Pirates of the Carribean franchise.
8.Jonah Hex
Director: Jimmy Hayward
Release Date: June 18, 2010

Comments: I’d have to be honest with this one: Voodoo zombies and Megan Fox? What more could you ask for?
9.The Last Airbender
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Release Date:July 2, 2010

Comments: It’s interesting that M. Night Shyamalan is going out of his comfort zone and directing material he did not write himself. Being a fan of the original series, I hope they make this right. As fans speculated over the internets, it’s only a hit or miss for this one.
10. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I
Director: David Yates
Release Date: November 19, 2010

Comments:Though some aren’t happy with Warner Bros. decision in splitting the movie into two, I think that they made the right call. If you thought that you could fit the whole book in just over two to three hours worth of screen time, you really need to see a doctor. I was already surprised that the did HP 6 in just one movie, and I’m glad the last one won’t suffer the same fate. To real Harry Potter fans, you know what I’m talking about.

Haha nice top ten. Definitely cant wait for 2012, The last airbender, Ironman 2, and Harry potter. As for the rest, I haven’t checked them out yet, but now I will. Thanks
Yeah, make sure you check them out. As I’ve said, I could’ve made it a Top 20 list because there are a lot of good movies out there worthy of mentioning. But make sure you don’t miss out on these 10 first!
Pretty good list !!! I am REALLY looking forward to “Alice in Wonderland” and I agree with you on “Potter”. The next list I have to worry about is my “Top Ten” of the 2000’s !
I’m glad someone agrees with me regarding “Potter”. Thanks!
Avatar has 9.6 out of 10 on IMDB, and Shyamalan’s movies after the Sixth Sense average at about 6.
He shouldn’t have been given the project, and I’m really hoping he steps it up. If everyone just starts doing Wushu…
M. Night Shyamalan should really step up it this one. Who knows? He might surprise us!
Wushu? I hope not! X_X
Hey Ryan, this is an excellent top ten list. I’ve heard really good things about “The Book of Eli”, Denzel is one of my favorite actors of all-time. Te latest Harry Potter installment is fantastic, one of the best in the series. You can cross-post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and link back to your site. We are trying to create a directory for top ten lists where people can find your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
excited for Avatar too! must watch!
i think u missed “Sherlock Holmes”… go check it out.
Yeah, I originally had 20 movies in my list including “Sherlock Holmes”. I wanted to keep it short though. Maybe I’ll post another list in a few days! ^_^
