Personal Records
In this page, I’m going to document the times I’ve been getting since I’ve started speedcubing/ speedsolving. I’m going to put milestones how much I knew/practiced for a certain stage and how it has affected my times as I progress. I just want to point out that you don’t have to be super smart or very “hardworking” to be fast at speedcubing. It totally depends on you. If wanna be faster, then practice more. If you just wanna learn just for the heck of it, then be more like me.. ^_^
What it means:
PB= Personal Best (the fastest time you have achieved at that date.)
AVE= Average (average of at least five solves)
SKIP= literally a Skip (skipped either a PLL or an OLL)
OLL= Orientation of the Last Layer (The Third Step of the Fridrich Method where
you make the top layer in a single color, with the sides still scrambled)
PLL= Permutation of the Last Layer (The Fourth and last step of the Fridrich Method
where you arrange the scrambled sides of the last layer.
F2L= First Two Layers ( The Second Step in which you fill in 4 slots of the first two layers.)
CROSS= the first step of the Fridrich Method where you form a “cross” at the bottom of the cube.
3×3x3 RUBIK’S CUBE
FIRST MONTH:
9-1-08: PB 1.18 min. (I started learning the Beginner’s Method thru badmephisto’s videos)
9-7-08: AVE: 1.14 min.
9-11-08: PB: 56.75 sec. (I’m getting the hang of it.)
9-16-08: PB: 50.xx (Learned some of the 2-look OLL and PLL)
9-21-08: PB 48.xx AVE: 58.xx
9-22-08: PB 44.xx AVE: 56.xx
9-23-08: AVE: 52.28
9-25-08: PB 30.xx (Lucky! Easy Cross)
AVE: 50.12 (excluding lucky solve)
9-26-08: AVE: 46.86 (excluding lucky solve, 38 sec.)
SECOND MONTH:
CUBING BREAK…. studied Intuitive F2L
10-18-08: AVE: 43.84
New PB 33.86 (No Skip)
10-26-08 PB 26.41 (PLL Skip)
THIRD MONTH:
I rarely cubed for this month because I was nearing my examination date. I stopped literally for a month.
11-05-08 AVE: 34.93 (I was curious if my average held up.)
FOURTH MONTH:
This month was much worse, I lost the reason for me to cube. (to rest in-between studying) I only practiced maybe once a week for less than an hour, but still, I improved a bit.
12-13-08 AVE of five: 32.96
FIFTH MONTH:
I recovered somehow from my slump and decided to learn all of the PLL’s. (there are 21) I was still lazy, learning only about two PLL’s a week.
1-18-09 new PB: 24.75 No Skip (17/21 PLL’s learned.F2L about 16 seconds)
AVE of five: 28.54 (sub 30! at last!)
NOTE: I learned an additional 10 PLL’s since last month.
SEVENTH MONTH:
I got into another slump since I was busy following up some personal and career stuff and i just time myself on rare occasions. I only cubed about a minimum of 5 solves per day up to a maximum of 10.
3-09-09 new PB: 22.95 No Skip F2L about 13 seconds)
AVE of five: 26.48
